Patrick De Hooghe is born in Hasselt, Belgium, on february 8th 1947.
At age 7 he started studying piano. Quickly follow public
appearances, as well in concert halls as on television. He obtains
piano and chamber music degrees as first nominated graduate at the
Conservatories of Liège and Brussels. After finishing his studies in
Brussels with the famous Eduardo del Pueyo he perfects himself, as a
scholar of the German and French government, at the Conservatories
of Cologne and Paris with the masters Alfons Kontarsky and Yvonne
Loriod.
Previous to his emigration to France, he teaches piano and chamber
music at the Antwerp Music Conservatory during 8 years.
In
France he becomes the assistant of György Cziffra in Senlis.
In
Paris, he soon acquires great recognition and starts a brilliant
international carreer that conducts him across great parts of
Europe, Russia, Japan and North America.
In
1995 he makes an adventurous concerttour with the Transsiberian
Express and appears in concerts from Ekaterinburg to Vladivostok
Since several years now he forms a duo with Pierre-Alain Volondat.
Their recording of the integral work of Fauré becomes a worldwide
success.
He
founds the festival “Musique en Bourgogne” and becomes artistic
director of the “Festival de l’Abbaye de Vaux de Cernay”.
His
repertoire extends from J.S. Bach to T. Takemitsu.
He
combines a flawless technique and an extremely sensitive and
inspirated musicality, which make him a fascinating artistic
personality
